{"id":25247,"date":"2021-06-01T21:24:56","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T16:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zardis.net\/news\/?p=25247"},"modified":"2021-06-01T21:24:56","modified_gmt":"2021-06-01T16:54:56","slug":"maestro-rahbari%e2%80%99s-latest-music-to-feature-goethe%e2%80%99s-hafez-inspired-poetry%c2%a0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zardis.net\/news\/en\/25247\/maestro-rahbari%e2%80%99s-latest-music-to-feature-goethe%e2%80%99s-hafez-inspired-poetry%c2%a0\/","title":{"rendered":"Maestro Rahbari\u2019s latest music to feature Goethe\u2019s Hafez-inspired poetry\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"summary\">TEHRAN \u2013 Maestro Ali Rahbari plans to compose a piece for a poem from German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe\u2019s West-East Divan composed under inspiration from the Persian poet Hafez.<\/p>\n<p>The piece has been commissioned by Naxos Records, a Hong Kong-based German record label specializing in classical music, the Persian service of the ILNA reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Naxos Records has so far released three volumes of Rahbari\u2019s album, \u201cMy Mother Persia\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The China NCPA Orchestra plans to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Iran and China by performing two symphonic poems from the album in two concerts during July.<\/p>\n<p>Goethe wrote the West-East Divan\u00a0between 1814 and 1819 under the influence of Hafez\u2019s poetry.<\/p>\n<p>The collection marks a literary encounter between German and Persian literature which began in 1814. In the spring of that year, Goethe received a German translation of Hafez\u2019s divan in two volumes from the publisher Cotta of Stuttgart.<\/p>\n<p>The translator was the Austrian Orientalist Joseph von Hammer-Purgstall, whose translations and commentaries played a major role in acquainting Germans with the East.<\/p>\n<p>Hammer\u2019s translation of the divan broadened and expanded the knowledge of the Orient which Goethe had acquired in his youth, so that he could now, at the age of 65, devote himself more intensively to the East, and predominantly to Persia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, Hammer-Purgstall built a bridge between Goethe and Hafez,\u201d Iranian scholar Kurosh Kamali Sarvestani once said.<\/p>\n<p>The connection between Goethe and Hafez has always been a source of inspiration for other art productions.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian filmmaker Farshad Fereshteh-Hekmat made the docufiction \u201cHafez and Goethe\u201d in 2018 to shed light on Goethe\u2019s great inspiration from Hafez.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Photo: Iranian composer Ali Rahbari.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MMS\/YAW\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TEHRAN \u2013 Maestro Ali Rahbari plans to compose a piece for a poem from German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe\u2019s West-East Divan composed under inspiration from the Persian poet Hafez.
