Yasser Al-Houri made the remarks on Sunday after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched extensive missile and drone strikes against the occupied territories in response to Israel’s deadly attack on the Iranian diplomatic premises in Syria early this month, Press Tv reported.
“Iran punished Israel in front of the nations of the world, and this operation is part of changing regional equations. And if Tel Aviv continues its foolishness, this operation will be a prelude to a wider conflict,” he said.
Houri went on to say that the retaliatory strikes proved that the Israeli regime is “fake” and it will be destroyed without the support of the United States.
“The Zionist regime was created by the US, and if Washington and some Western and Arab countries that are behind its continued existence did not support it, there would be no name left of it now,” he said.
The Yemeni official further noted that Iran’s response to Israeli crime was “calculated and strong”, adding that it challenged the occupying regime, the US, Western countries, as well as all the enemies of the resistance.
He also described targeting and punishing Israel as “a real unique victory and an important success” for Iran and a “complete defeat” for the Israeli regime.
The IRGC targeted Israel late on Saturday with a barrage of drones and missiles in response to the regime’s deadly assault on the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus on April 1.
The retaliatory strikes have inflicted a yet-to-be-specified extent of damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories.
The Israeli attack on Iran’s diplomatic facilities in Syria resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.
The terrorist attack drew categorical condemnation from senior Iranian political and military leaders, who vowed “definitive revenge.”
