Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the comments in a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Sunday afternoon, according to local Turkish media.
Referring to Iran’s last night’s Iran’s operation against the Israeli regime, Fidan said that, “We do not want the tension in the region to escalate and we hope that the actions leading to the increase in tension will be over.”
Amir Abdollahian also told his Turkish counterpart that “the operation against Israel has ended and if there is no attack on Iran, no new operation will be carried out.”
However, the Iranian foreign minister stressed once again that “if there is a new attack against Iran, Iran’s response will be harsher than before.”
After talking to his Iranian counterpart, Fidan held a phone conversation with his British counterpart David Cameron.
Iran’s retaliatory missile and drone strikes on Israel were launched after two weeks of strategic patience and meticulous planning and execution.
The operation included at least four waves of drone attacks. It is estimated that a total of 400 to 500 drones were launched.
On Sunday morning, the chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, said Iran has concluded its retaliatory strikes on the occupied territories.
Bagheri downplayed the extent of the operation compared to what Iran is capable of, saying that it was merely a punishment and the country’s response to any further military action by the Israeli regime “will be much greater.”
