The deputy Iranian foreign minister made the remarks at 11th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) underway in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on 14th and 15th December, 2025.
Gharibabadi recalled naming the year 2001 as “Dialogue Among Civilizations” at Iran’s initiative, saying that “In the current sensitive era, the alliance of civilizations should be placed on the agenda as a strategic principle. This alliance can be effective, among other things, in the field of combating terrorism, establishing lasting peace and security, promoting social and economic justice, and developing joint science and technology.”
According to him, Iran as a country with a rich history of cultural and civilizational interactions, declares its full readiness to cooperate with other countries.
Gharibabadi pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the unity of civilizations should serve as a resistance against warmongering and domination. To achieve lasting peace and security in the world, he said, “we must avoid promoting war and escalating crises and instead focus on diplomacy and honest dialogue based on mutual respect.”
“Iran calls on all countries in the world and the United Nations to respond decisively to the Zionist regime of Israel’s aggression which receives unwavering support from the United States to shoulder more responsibility when it comes to human rights and world peace,” he continued.
