Tondar, also known as the kingdom assembly of Iran, orchestrated a bombing at the Seyyed-ol-Shohada Hosseiniyeh (Mosque) in Shiraz, southern Iran, in 2008.

This terror attack resulted in the death of 14 Iranians and left 210 others wounded. The victims were participating in a mourning ceremony for Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of Shia Muslims, according to the media center of Iran’s Judiciary.

Following litigation from the victims’ families, Branch 55 of the legal court of Tehran’s international relations convened a session chaired by Judge Hosseinzadeh. The court convicted Sharmahd, the leader of the terrorist group, and the United States administration, which supported the group, to pay $2.47 billion to the plaintiffs.

The court has characterized this penalty as both a spiritual and financial restitution.

Among the sabotage acts carried out by the Tondar terror group, under the leadership of Sharmahd, were threats to individuals, extortion, the explosion of a bomb at Tehran’s Jahan Hotel on May 15, 2008, and the bombing of Imam Khomeini Mausoleum on June 20, 2009. Additionally, they planted bombs in public places, state sites, transportation networks, and infrastructural installations. Their actions also included sabotaging governmental and non-governmental sites and causing environmental damage through water poisoning and forest fires.
